Students Say Welcome Back Dance Was A Hit

Kamehameha’s annual “Welcome Back Dance” took place this past Friday, August 20th on Konia field. The dance included multiple attractions including a Bouncy House, inflatable slide, and photo booth; approximately 400-500 students attended. Malia Aiello, a senior member of the ASKS board, helped coordinate the dance. “I think the dance went great! The bounce house and slide were definitely a hit. I’m super happy that we had a good turnout!” said Malia when asked about her experience. Rayne Akiona, another senior, was asked how his experience was. He said, “It was alright. My favorite part was standing by the water because they ran out of cups so I held up the water jug so people wouldn’t die of dehydration. A kid thought I was a parent so when I held up the water he said, ‘Thanks uncle’.” Daphnee Miller, an 11th grader, said, “I thought it was really fun. The food was good. My favorite part was definitely dancing with my friends and not caring how many people were judging our A1 dance moves.” Ninth grade student Reyn Matsuura also shared his experience at his first high school dance, saying, “I thought it was fun aside from the grinding because that was happening everywhere. I think they should play more current songs, though.” The night ended successfully and set the tone for the future dances this school year.
